Luscious Whole Orange Cake

  • Posted on June 15, 2010 at 10:30 AM

Friendly neighbours who share produce with you are wonderful.

Juila’s neighbours have a lovely navel orange tree and recently shared a bag of delicious navel oranges with her family.

One of the oranges was made into a luscious whole orange cake. Super easy, as the whole orange is cut into pieces and put into the food processor, skin and all. Super tasty, as there is a lot of the flavour in the skin and this is not wasted.

Learning to cook perfect rice – the absorption method

  • Posted on June 10, 2010 at 7:22 AM

Julia has a rice cooker. It is currently sitting in a cupboard unloved. Julia likes to cook rice on the stove top using the absorption method.

Recently Julia’s DD Miss 12 attended a teen conference whereby the group and leaders stayed in a youth hostel and had to share cooking duties. Rowena mentioned to Julia that her DD Miss 12 would gain valuable kudos if she could demonstrate her cooking skills at such teen camp and social situations through the cooking of rice ‘the way her mum does.’

The Fridge

You can tell a lot about someone by the state of their fridge.

Neat and orderly versus furry green produce and leftovers bulging out of the door every time it is opened.

The Sensible Sisters admit that they are somewhere in between.

Rowena’s fridge is usually in somewhat better shape than Julia’s.
