Sensible Sisters Christmas Menu

The Sensible Sisters will be spending Christmas Day at Julia’s house this year. Here is a sneak peek at their menu…

Christmas at Julia’s house is a fun and relaxed day.

Christmas day usually starts with family members calling in for brunch on their way to another family member’s home. Fresh fruit, a mince pie or other snack with juice, coffee and champagne for those who wish to indulge is all enjoyed while the children play with their presents.

Moving onto lunch, the Sisters prefer to keep it simple. It is usually a cold assortment of festive foods.

Here is this year’s proposed Christmas lunch menu:

Sensible Sister’s Christmas Menu

Hassel Back Potatoes

Creamy Coleslaw

Noodle Salad

Cold seafood platter

Christmas Ham – free range, ordered from a gourmet butcher who smoke their own

Cold, sliced turkey – cooked the day before and served with cranberry sauce

Fruit – mangoes, cherries and other stone fruit

Pavlova – served with whipped cream and fruit on the side for people to help themselves

Christmas pudding – the Sensible Sisters are taking a shortcut and have purchased a pudding. It will be flamed with brandy

Chocolate cherry trifle (recipe to follow in another post)

As you can see, there is not a lot of preparation involved. The Sister’s focus is on fun – for themselves as well as their families. They do not want the pressure of having to prepare the ‘perfect’ traditional hot Christmas dinner. Gradually they have moved to this style of Christmas day food and so far no-one has complained… After all, they could always cook and clean up themselves instead…

Merry Christmas and enjoy!
