Now that it is school holidays, some more treats can make it onto the menu. Caramel sauce is a delicious addition to dessert. Julia’s DD’s enjoy caramel sauce over ice cream… Try it and you will not buy caramel topping or sauce again!
Caramel Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 300 ml carton or bottle of cream
- 100 grams butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method:
- Combine all ingredients in a saucepan over low heat.
- Stir without boiling for about 5 minutes or until mixture is well combined and slightly thickened.
- Allow to cool slightly before pouring over ice cream or other dessert.
Enjoy!
Note: sauce will thicken further on standing. Store remaining sauce in the fridge for up to 5 days.
